I recently bricked my Apple Watch series 2 While updating. It’s stuck with an exclamation mark saying to take to Apple. my warranty has expired and I’m wondering what is the cost of having apple reset my AW2? Has anyone send theirs in for repairs because of the same issue? What’s the final cost?

If it is due to a Apple software update attempt, it shouldn’t cost you anything. However, if Apple receives the watch and determines it is due to damage etc. you will be charged. If you live near a store, take it in. They will be able to provide you information, note the condition of the watch, and send it for repair if need be.

Apple stores can often fix software errors. Otherwise they get sent in. Worth a shot getting it done in-store for free. Otherwise, you might be better off using this as an opportunity to upgrade versus paying 50%+ the price of a new one to have it repaired (which will really just be a like-model replacement).

To my knowledge AW S2 has a diagnostic port so they may be able to take care of you just fine at the Apple Store. I don’t know about the cost, but if it is a software issue, it shouldn’t really cost you anything. Take it in and have them figure it out for you!

I got this with my SS S2, well I had lent it to a friend as I have an AL S4 and he said it froze with the Apple logo. When I retrieved it I couldn't get it to reset. I got genius bar appointment and weirdly in the Apple Store it suddenly started working again, but then relapsed to the Apple logo - all this in front of the Apple staff.

To cut to the chase, they said it was a software fault and put it in for repair. They said I shouldn't pay for it, but if they determined it was my fault then is would cost €250. In any case, they replaced it with a brand-new S2 SS, picked it up last week.

I was kind of hoping they wouldn't have stock and might have got an upgrade, but no. In any case it's another vindication of Apple's excellent customer support - to replace a product when it's nearly " years old is exceptional.

If your Apple Watch is ‘bricked’ because of an Apple WatchOS update, that’s out of your control, that won’t cost you anything, assuming Apple can determine there’s no foul play involved with the Apple Watch that would been caused outside of watchOS.
