I have always been a PC user. Recently switched to MAC. I purchased the new Macbook Pro with 2.80Ghz. I have 2 PCs running Windows 7 RC1.

I entered the workgroup name in the Airport utility, turned file sharing on. Also installed XP Professional via VMWare Fusion. I can access my shared folder on both the PCs running Windows 7 RC1 and also from XP Professional via VMWare without any problem whatsoever.

However, in Finder when I GO to Network, it doesn't show anything at all, just a black screen. I cannot see any PC at all. Since all the PCs can access my shared folder without any problem, I believe there is no settings required on PCs, but something is missing in MAC setting. Please advise what shall I do?

I can access all the PCs through connect through server. But, they don't show up on the network. Is there a way, they will show up on the network or will I have to access it via Connect to server every time?

Another way: In finder, go -->connect server,
"smb://pc's IP adrress/" then you can see PC shared folder.

Are your PC's and macs on the same Windows Workgroup?

You can assign your Mac to a windows workgroup by going to System Preferences->Network->Advanced->WINS

The network map in Windows 7 will show the Mac if they are in the same workgroup folder.
I'm not at home right now but this Mac will show the two PCs on that home network.
I'm not running remote right now.

I'm using 10.5.7.

have u set up the network from the PCs?

when i set up mine from my macbook to my PC i did it 1st on my
mac and had the same problem as u are, then i set the network up
from my PC and enabled file and printer sharing and now everything works.

Yes, the PCs and MAC are all in same workgroup name.
I can access all PCs through connect through server. I can access all PC files from MAC. However, that works till I don't restart the MAC. I hope the network PCs would automatically show up in the network. I will try to setup the PC once again and inform if there is any progress.
