I can access some websites but not others and mail does not work

I have a macbook pro and iphone 5 which worked fine on hotel wifi until 2 days ago. no i can access certain websites google, facebook and santander banking but NOT bbc, telegraph or guardian. my PC is just fine. i have messed with IP address changes and DNS changes and checked that the website i want has a DNS on the network but no joy. Please help. Yhe iphone 5 does not send emails but does receive facebook messages... the wifi is good download speed but was v slow on upload (0.06mbps) on speed test..
