iPhone I can no longer backup my iPhone x and iPad Pro to my MacBook Pro

When I go to Finder and plug in my iPhone or iPad the only device showing is my MacBook Pro.
 
OK I fixed it. GO to Finder preferences CDs / DVDs / iOS devices and and make sure the box is checked. Mine was not. I can't believe I'm the only one with that problem.
