I just hooked my turntables to our iMac and did the necessary configurations so I can record audio in Audacity. However, I can only listen to my music after I finished recording.

How can I setup my Mac to just play out the records I am playing? It was easy enough with XP, so please tell me there is an easy way to do this on OS X as well... ;)

Use the latest beta of Audacity, if you aren't already doing this. (Lots of fixes for the OS X version.)

In the Audacity prefs under Audio I/O, click one of these boxes:

'Hardware Playthrough'

or

'Software Playthrough'

Probably the software playthrough is what you want.

But there is no way to, you know, just listen to my records under OS X?

Yes. I suggest you purchase a usb or firewire device from www.m-audio.com You will get better recording quality and it is easier to have the sound pass through.

Finally had the time to try LineIn out today - does exactly what it should. :) Thanks again for the recommendation!
