i have downloaded several times the 2.2.1 firmware on my mac and all i get is a zip file that once downloaded gets decompressed and there is no ipsw file. i tried thebigboss.org also modmyi.com and NADA!

i need to downgrade my old 3G to sell it.

any help??


PS: i did the hack to itunes to activate carrier file updates. is that the problem???

If you're using safari, make sure you have the option to open safe files after download disabled and try again. You may then get the file downloaded but called xxxx.ipsw.zip (where xxxx is the base firmware file name): If that happens, simply rename it by removing the .zip file extension
