Hi,
Something rather odd has happened to my computers ability to play or recognise DVDs and CDs properly.
I have a 2015 iMac Retina with MacOS 10.12.2 and 8Gb of RAM. I have an external Apple Superdrive which I bought last year, as well as an external Pawtec Bluray writer/player.
In the last week or so, I cannot play discs that heretofore have been perfectly fine. If I can get anything to play at all (with the DVD Player app), everything is distorted (both picture and sound) and streaked & blocked with bright green (almost as though I am trying to read a disc from a different region - although there is definitely no region mismatch.) The app just spits the DVD out after a few minutes.
With audio CD’s (in iTunes), there is an attempt at reading the disc but eventually the Superdrive spits the disc out. This happens when playing CDs I’ve successfully imported before. Reading and playing CDs (but not DVDs) is fine, with the Pawtec drive in iTunes. Could the Superdrive have failed? Why would the Pawtec play CDs, but not DVDs?
I have reset the PRAM, and I have the latest version of Disc Warrior that I can use if you think its a good idea. Does anyone have any ideas what's going on?
Many thanks.
