I Cant See my Xbox avatar :(

I went live on xbox about a year ago ... but since then I've been playing offline ...

2 weeks ago ... my friend inserted his harddisk and updated my xbox ... but after that I couldn't see my avatar ... just a shadow for it .. and when I try to custmize it ... it say that I have to go live ..

Is there any way that I can view my avatar without going online?
