Check your settings. Do you mean mission control? You might be double tapping.

Oh. I did not see you mention Chrome. I don't use it daily so I'm not sure. I don't think gestures are supported yet in Chrome. Maybe the Canary builds?

Just installed Chrome. Works for me.

Three finger swipe back and forth, right?

Goto System Preferences, Trackpad, under More Gestures, change "Swipe Between Pages" to "Swipe with two or three fingers".
