I was fooling around on the security settings and changed the system password with a random sequence, which I didn't even read much less wrote down, by “accident”.

Luckily, I still have access to the macOS enviroment, so I can do some things while I can. As soon as I log off , I might be ****ed.

Now, let's say I backup the system to Time Machine on an external drive that I have (I have some relatively old copies in TM that I need to update with new files), would it transfer the new password as well? Say I restart my Mac and restore the system from these recently-made copies. When I boot again, will the system ask the new-unknown password or the old one?

Another chance of solving this might be using that option that resets the system password while booting from the firmware. However, I'm 99% sure that I created a separate password for that too long time ago, and while I have a firmware password saved im my password manager, I'm not 100% sure if it's for this Mac or another one that I had. Is there a way of checking it out without login off from macOS?

Any other suggestion will be highly well received.

EDIT: I was offline while doing this. As I got online again, iCloud asked me to enter my account password in order to confirm the changes. I haven't done it yet. I don't know if this helps in some way...

Actually, it wasn't like that. I was checking out the password generator in OS X and seeing its different standards. Then I just brain farted and pressed return. I didn't even had time to read the generated pass.

My recommendation for my future self and everybody else would be: don't fool around with passwords, partitions or backups if you are sleepy or under any medication. In fact, make sure you deal with passwords, partitions or backups only after having one or two espressos.
