I guess I grabbed it the wrong way or something, because I cut myself on the razor sharp edge on the bottom of the laptop where the hinge is, enough to start bleeding lol.

Are yours also this sharp or in this a design flaw on my unit?

One of my MacBook Pros has scratches and a gouge on one side and the edge is quite sharp. I bought it used and it's clear that it's been dropped more than once. You can get cuts from all kinds of stupid things depending on the speed, pressure, angle of the collision. Just keep some first-aid supplies around to deal with cuts.
