The iPad has only been in the hand of those who have the knowledge to jailbreak 'stuff' for a couple of weeks. Give them time.

In the mean time here is a screenshot of cydia for iPad.

But what about all the apps off the app store? the only thing that might get me to jail break is if they have a good dvix video player so I can put my torrented television on it easily.

I Want my iPad to be like my phone!

I'm curious to what you would use the jailbreak for?

The only thing I might consider using a jailbreak for is a more centralized file system, native printing, and maybe some sort of multitasking until OS 4.0 comes to the ipad in the fall.

Oh, and I do think a nintendo or MAME emulator would look awesome on the ipad. I wish Apple would just let those in the app store, since having an emulator itself, without any actual roms, is completely legal and breaks no copyright laws.

You can stream those videos from your computer to you ipad with
the apps Air Video and Stream to Me. They are both in the APP Store now.

As far as apps go, you can still gets them in the appstore. I wanna jb for SBsettings/iFile/THEMES!... And a few other things

I'd be happy with 4.0 for now. At least that way I'd have much better multi tasking. Not expecting a Jailbreak till after 4.0 drops so no point thinking about it for now. I'll just appreciate my iPad for what it is for the time being.

SBSettings to be able to change brightness quickly would be handy. LockInfo and Notifier would be nice too (to see if I have new Mail without unlocking the device or closing the current app.)

I'd jailbreak just for sbsettings to control brightness. And I think we will see a jailbreak soon.

Just for a more centralized file system and native printing alone I would jailbreak. I don't think Steve Jobs is ever going to give us the centralized file system. It's such a very basic function to be just an oversight or not a priority. As for native printing, that may come in an update. I guess I can wait to multitasking.

The only other function I would want is to be able to use the iPad as a mass storage device; just plug it into USB, and drag-n-drop files into and out of the centralized file system. This would truly make it a useful device. I'll see what the JB community can do.

from what i can tell black rain devs have already jail broken the ipad firmware.

however i cant imagine there are many ipad jail broken apps that are worth a damn as the ipad is still very fresh and all I saw of their jail breaking was using the iphone app zoom feature once it was rebooted.

for now im going to wait until we start seeing jailbreak videos with native applications
