As the title says, I’m not expecting massive upgrade to Siri anymore – I used to, though.

I’ve been a tech nerd since I was a little kid, and the potential I saw in Siri and other digital personal assistants was as big as any other tech leap that came before. We’ve all seen these things work in movies; Her, Iron Man, etc are the extreme examples, but I saw the very real possibility of a toned down personal assistant version of those AIs becoming a part of our daily lives very soon.

I used to think that Apple was working in the background and pouring billions of dollars into what was going to be the next Internet level game changer. I used to say that was why Siri wasn’t getting much better– they were biding their time and getting it right and would come out with a snow leopard style polished product.

I used to think those things.

All I am expecting of Apple now after experience experiencing the beta of Apple Intelligence across MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch, and iPhone, is that if they pour enough money into it and scramble fast enough, they might get to a competent product – maybe. I think they were asleep at the wheel on this one and are now scrambling to catch up.

I used to be on the edge of my seat, waiting for that big announcement day where they would roll out the Apple version of digital assistance that would blow our minds and become the new standard for how we interacted with the digital world. A version of Siri that not only gets out of the way of you, living your life, and simply helps you along the way but one that would actively add value to your life. Making connections that you might not otherwise see an identifying opportunities to enrich our lives. I know I’m reaching here, but reaching is how we got the Internet and smart phones and cameras and everybody’s pockets that you can shoot a movie on.

I’m not on the edge of my seat anymore; at least not for Apple’s rendition.

I now hope that they can simply finish their song, take the L, and get off the stage…

I think it will be somebody else who cracks this one…
