The first touch I picked up had Wi-Fi issues, so it went back. This new one also has difficulty using the Internet at home (apparently it's the D-Link router) but worse is this optimized image thing when syncing photos through iTunes.

I just spent the last few hours scouring the Internet and couldn't believe it when no solution popped up. I don't understand because, despite its faulty wireless, the iPod I exchanged had full-resolution photos after syncing. No idea how, as apparently that option isn't available for touches, but I certainly miss that defective iPod now.

Sorry. I guess this turned into a rant. Although if I simply missed the solution to the photo thing, it'd be nice to hear about it.

Straight out of the box as supplied by Apple, the iPod touch has never had disk mode in any form therefore your first touch wouldn't have been able to hold high resolution photos unless you had used jailbreak on it.
