I've been trying to run various hard drive speed tests to help diagnose a drop-off in noticed speed. When I try to run them on the boot volume I get messages about not having permission to read/write to that drive. I get this message when running AJA System Test, QuickBench, or DiskSpeedTest. However, they run fine of the second hard drive.

Is this normal? Any way to remedy it, so I can test my main drive's speed?

I haven't used any of those programs specifically, but if they are trying to write to the root of the drive (which they probably are), then yes, that's normal.
