Ok so everytime i download somthing it just pops up on the desktop as a paper with a folded ccorner and when you open it it onpens in i tunes i have no idea what to do. Any ideas?

Some more details of your system etc. would be helpful. However, you can right click on the file and "Get Info" and then you will see "Open With". You can check that to see what is the default program to open the file. If you are downloading things like .dmg and it is opening with iTunes, you may need some more experienced help than I can give. Good Luck!

well it says i have mac os x 10.3.9 but there isnt any installation program?

ok but its not just the winrar nothing works like it saves it to the desktop and you cant do anything with it it just opens in itunes and nothing happens

Are you sure that everything you are downloading are not Windows programs and not OSX programs?

You need to be more specific, what are you trying to download and install.

Saying that nothing works is too vague, because for me everything works.

I think the guys are needing a specific example of a Mac program in order to try to really help solve this issue. You mentioned WinRar. Try to get a program like MacPar Deluxe and see if you can install that. Keep in mind you are using an older version of Mac OSX, so make sure when you download a program it is compatible with your version of OSX.

um im pretty sure but like i think its just that there isnt an insalation program because i have also tried to dowload adobe flash player and it did nothing

Not everything has an installation program, but not everything should open in iTunes either ...

If you don't know enough to know how to install things, perhaps it's best to wait before downloading any apps. Unless you know how to use them, installing them won't be much help.

ok i if this help i just now tried to get mac par deluxe and it say to install drag the icon to the apillications and i do that then when i open it it says the same thing

When you opened MacPar it asked you to drag the application to your applications folder. This is not the actual file you downloaded, but rather the app file that is shown in the window that tells you to drag it to your applications folder. After you do that, browse to your applications folder and then double click on the MacPar application. If it opens...that worked, then you have successfully installed an application.

well that video helped i got the mac par deluxe downloaded but like the thing i was trying to download wasnt an app it is the winrar for mac i just searched it on google and it just pops up on the desk top and it just opens i tunes

I think that MacPar can do anything Winrar can do and probably better. Try using that instead?

I just tried it, and it is an .exe file so it is not actually for mac, no matter what it says.

If you need something to open RAR files, try searching for UnRarX.

alright ill try that and i didnt actually know what mac par did so thanks
