...are there any _good_ alternatives?

I've used fink for a while now, I don't really like it. I never really liked the debian packaging interface and whatnot anyways (much preferred gentoo).

My main bug is that I don't like the command line interface (a la debian) and FinkCommander just seems really buggy - the table data getting inconsistent after a while and having to restart, hard to find specific packages, etc.
 
Darwinports is the main alternative, as far as I know. It uses the BSD ports system.

Personally between the two I prefer Fink. Darwinports seems to occasionally get itself confused, and then you've got to go in and manually clean things up - and doing so in Darwinports is a bit harder to do than in Fink. But everyone is different, so perhaps you'd prefer it.
