If you go the Home iNsurance route, make sure that they don't count the claim against you, as some will consider it a major claim and either raise your rates the next year, change your plan which pin essence raises your rates, or drop you for too many claims issues.
 
Why not ask the folks at your local Apple store if there's one in your area. During a Genius appointment I had last year the tech even gave me a list of authorized repair centers.

Unfortunately my nearest store is 100 miles away.
 
Call the store and see if they can give you a list of authorized repair agents. Might be one closer to you. Can't hurt to try. Good luck.
 
Display is usually a flat rate Tier 2 repairs which is $600 plus tax stateside, so I imagine it's around that across the pond.
