could someone please tell me where i can find the original ipod settings for ipod touch, i ssh'd into my ipod and the original settings files which i replaced with ones that were meant to make it better have disappeared completely, thanks in advance

i just tried putting it in and cuteftpro wont let me do it, AT ALL i even tried making a new folder called preferences and dumping the folders in there, which didnt work!!!

Update*** - no NOTHING at all is coming up when i press settings, just the grey screen which freezes for about ten seconds

no luck with the original ones either, i cant do anything on settings now!!! :(

Don't panic... worst case scenario you could do a restore.

I know that in installer.app there is an app in there you can download called advanced preferences. It has a lot of iPhone stuff in there like Edge connection etc but also has all the iPod settings you would need so its better than nothing?!

ive downloaded that one, several times!!! and uninstalled it when it hasnt made any difference, the files ARE there in cuteftpro, its just i dont think the ipod knows where to look for them if that makes sense?

could someone please show me how i would now go about getting the original settings back please

I dont understand where you attempted to put Football's Preferences.app?

There should be a folder, when FTPing your touch called applications.
Drag the supplied Prefs.app into it, and it should ask if you want to overwrite.
Say yes, and it should start copying.

One other thing, sounds stupid, but did you unzip the supplied file, or just drag the .zip in?

i put it in aplications and that, i unzipped the folder, however i didnt overwrite, i backed up then deleted the original settings, disconected the ipod and then reconected and put the new ones on, i tried putting the backe up ones back but didnt work.

i think its just a case of the settings icon not knowing where to look as the original was deleted and it has not yet recognized there are new settings there, but correcting this is beyond me :(

I dont think that is the problem.
It should have asked you to overwrite.
Did you make sure the name of the file you were copying was exactly the same as the Prefs you were replacing?

They have to be identical.
Capitalization and all.

oh, no just the one, and i kinda didnt give it a chance to say overwrite (which i take it i should have) i delthe original and unplugged the ipod (leaving me with NO settings app at all for a breif time) then when you provided the link i put that into applications, about 10 mins after i deleted the original settings app doh! :(

im scared the reset might **** up though, then i wouldnt even be able to do anything with it!

well... i bit the bullet and went ahead with the restore, as it is doing right now, so will update later with how it has went

good news guys went very well, now all i need to do is downgrade to 1.1.1 then reupgrade to 1.1.2, oh fun fun fun with a capital F
