Can someone tell me how to set the finder so that when you change it, the windows stay that way, even after you close it.

Are you asking how to change the view in finder (icons, list, columns)? If you are it's in the top bar on the screen (system bar?) under view. If that's not what you're asking please clarify.
nvm, it seems that the window of the finder was resetting itself every time i closed it, but now it stays the way i set it after i close and re-open it. odd
