Around an hour before posting this, i heard a song that is on my iTunes playing, but i did not have iTunes on, and never opened it. After digging around to see if there was a file open that was playing the song, i found something called ProteMac Daemon in my CPU Activity Monitor. It says it is root, but when i googled it, i came to find out that it is a file, and noticed ProteMac is also a keylogger.

I play a lot of games and do a lot of things on the internet on this mac, and am scared someone may have put this file on my mac to do things to it.

If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated. -Justin

Tried this uninstall method with the term "protemac" yet?

Best way to FULLY DELETE a program without the need of any additional, inefficient applications

Visual presentation of the steps outlined in above link, except this part:
Launch Activity Monitor and change "My Processes" at the top to "All Processes", then make sure the app you want to remove is not running. If it is, quit the process before proceeding.

In some cases, when you try to quit a process, it automatically relaunches. If that is the case, you can check the following locations for apps that automatically launch on startup and delete any you don't need/want, including the app you want to delete:

System Preferences > Users & Groups > yourusername > Login Items (SL and older: System Preferences > Accounts > yourusername > Login Items)
In Finder, click Go > Go to Folder > /Library/LaunchAgents
In Finder, click Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/LaunchAgents
In Finder, click Go > Go to Folder > /Library/StartupItems

Once you've removed the app from the startup list, restart your Mac and proceed with the uninstall process below.
