So after school I walked over to my old middle school, which is about 50 yards away from the high school.

I went in and went into my old tech ed teachers room (hes a mac person). We talked a little, he showed me his new 20" iMac 2.1Ghz. Anyways, he gave me one of the iBooks that they are no longer using.

Anways it is a 12" 500MHz iBook g3 with a CD drive and 128mb of ram. It is running 9.2 but it also has 10.1 on it.

Not really that great, but no to bad at the same time considering it was FREE.

sweet since you already have a powerbook you should sell it and get a couple hundred dollars

I might keep it, but I might sell it. I wouldn't exactly want to sell it though because the teacher did give it to me.

The iBook is in very good condition, considering it was in a school environment. It has no big scratches, no mars, the keyboard is in tact, and its not dirty. The only thing it really could need is a new battery.

Thats awesome! Nice teacher. I've been looking for an older iBook just for basic web browsing around the house.

Has anyone seen the pic of the guy with about 20 iMac and PowerMac G3s in his room that his school were chucking out?

Free iBook = A-W-E-S-O-M-E! :)

I think that you should keep it. Either start a collection of Macs or bring it to places where you would not normally bring your PowerBook G4 (in case it would get lost/stolen).

Enjoy! :)

No I have not seen it, but just the mental image in my head is disturbing enough.

Just the thought of throwing away all of those Macs is enough to send shivers through my spine... :(

Heres a quick pic I took of it.

I recently sold the iBook in my signature for $380. Nice gift from your teacher!!!

hmm, not bad...

I'd love an old iBook. I had that exact model you had back in 2001. I remember being elated after I dropped $1300 on it! Ah, the memories!

I'd use it primarily as a web surfing device for the kitchen, family room. How conveniant would that be!
