Here's a video of it booting, a comparison to the hard drive (3x speedup) and me opening the sims, webkit:


The SSD I went with was the kingspec PATA 64GB SSD. I was really worried because its running the .6 controller and I read that people have had bad luck with ibooks and that controller, but it seems to have no problems inside the powerbook.

It's amazing to me how fast this thing is with an SSD. The Sims now launches faster on the powerbook than on my C2D 2007 iMac!
 
Great post! An SSD upgrade makes a huge improvement on the PowerBooks (and early MacBooks/MBPs)

Nice! I have an mSATA SSD to IDE solution in my Pismo and my 1 GHz TiBook. And while the limited bus speeds keep the SSD at far less than its potential, the lack of latency, the virtually instataneous seek time, compared to the spinners makes it a lot snappier anyway.
