I just called AT&T because I'm having problems with my 3G connection. The lady told me that the 3G network and therefore the internet will not work on any iPhone 3GS until the end of the summer. I told her that everyone else on the internet has a 3G connection and I asked her if she is telling me that everyone else is just crazy, and she said "yes that is exactly the case."

Wait, im gonna post based on the problem with 3g cause i am too. Is your phone dropping 3g even though you have full bar and then after a minute or so it comes back and then after 2 minutes does it again ina never ending cycle. Cause I am also. They told me i need a new phone. 6th iphone 3g and counting =(.

I think its illegal without telling the rep, then she will be extra careful on her stupidity. Although I did have nextel honor a mistake when it came down to pricing on 2 i850's they reviewed the tapes and we got the cheapest pricing.

No. 3G has not worked since I bought the phone 4 hours ago. I haven't seen the 3G symbol once since activating my phone. And this lady is telling me that my phone and all other 3GS phones are not supposed to be accessing the 3G network or getting online.

the only thought I have here is that she's talking about the faster 3G network that is still being rolled out. You know, the feature of the 3G S that apple hardly talked about during WWDC because AT&T isn't ready.

I didn't have the 3G symbol either.

It was because I was coming from the iPhone 2G data plan, and still had that on my account.

If that's your case, then you still have the data plan, but you just don't have teh 3G symbol. You can continue with life, and you (most likely) won't be charged for using any extra data.

Hmmm so I'm not the only one this is happening to....I have even switched to Edge and even that's only 2 bars or so and very slow to send texts. It's like overtime my signal diminishes until I restart and am given 5 bars again. The rep I talked to in chat was utterly useless so I don't know what to do. This only started happening after 3.0.
