I guess AT&T FAN discounts cover data now?

For years my FAN discount only covered voice plan and never data. But when I went through the process of upgrading to the iPhone 5 via AT&T's website, the discount was applied to data.
Hope it's not a mistake. 3GB for $23 is pretty sweet
