Hi,

I had an AVP demo in Apple Store last weekend and quite honestly I was blown away. I don’t want to sound over the top but I haven’t been impressed by tech like this for a long time. I’m an Apple nerd like probably most on here and have been for years but as I was using it, my mind was on overdrive how I could use this. I work full time in education but am also doing further studies at uni so having floating screens of research etc and notes just felt ideal for my use case.

I would aim to use it at night mostly when my wife is sleeping as she often complains of my bright laptop and work being an annoyance whereas I’m visualising myself being in complete darkness immersed in my computing spatial environment (can you tell I’ve already thought of the script to justify it to her 😂).

What I want to know is, will this novelty wear off? I’m not naive and know that devices lose their ‘shine’ after a while of use, but having looked at a lot of reviews and videos I can’t help but think is all the negative reviews justified? Maybe my expectations are lower than everyone else but if someone said even 5 years ago that I could have my MBP screen floating in mid air and stretched across my bedroom where I could fully interact with it and have multiple windows hovering like some sort of Tony Stark/Jarvis with the polish of Apple’s UI, I probably wouldn’t have believed them.

I guess what I’m asking is, have a lot of you regretted buying it or have you utilised it effectively as a productivity device within its early limitations (weight, battery, size etc).

Thanks for your input.

I would wait for the product ( and app support) to mature and the price to come down before diving in.
Do you think Apple will reduce the price? I can see them bringing out a non ‘pro’ version eventually with reduced optics and possibly cheaper materials etc.

Yes, I agree.

But those who have bought one, do you regret? Particularly after the Vision OS 2 update?

There was a lull for awhile where I was not using it as much. (I've had mine since February). But as more content and apps come out, I find myself using it more and more.
I have always used it for looking at photos and watching movies. That never waned.
As Apple comes out with new updates and new features, I am loving it more and more. It is so portable, like taking my office with me everywhere.
The latest update with the ultra wide MacBook screen is the killer app for me. It is gorgeous and so useful.
The Vision 2 update sealed the deal for me.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I’m definitely someone who sees the potential in this and was just so amazed when I tried the demo. For the most part, I plan on using it plugged into the wall anyway when sat in bed so I don’t really see that much of an issue with battery life.

Has anyone tried the 2.2 Beta with ultra wide yet as that would be the big draw for me productivity wise.

Thanks

I pick up a practically brand new 1TB model off eBay for $2600. I don't use it every day and I don't regret getting one. I wouldn't buy one at retail price but feel good about the price I paid.

Ultrawide on it is amazing. I’ve been using it daily since it first came out.

Agree with this statement above 👆🏻 the price point not as many people are willing to pay for it. Launch day for Vision Pro is even way less than iPhone release day and even only less than 500 apps of the App Store has visionOS support.

I have been looking on eBay and will pick one up when I see one for sale when a decent seller puts up a listing. Some people selling have taken a serious hit on what they paid new and with accessories.

Most Vision Pro users even use Apple Card installments if they have an Apple Card to divide payments.

Just get it new from Apple with AppleCare+. Also, don't get the one with the small storage. If you are making the investment, get the one with 1TB if possible, or at least 512GB. You wouldn't want to regret it later.
You can't finger type on the virtual keyboard in the dark. You could still type by looking at it or dictating, but the best option is to use an external keyboard, one that's silent. You'll be typing blindly. If you are not good at it, you will soon be it.
I have mine since day 1 and don't regret it a bit.

On a different note,

How are people watching YouTube now that Juno was taken down, and watching via Safari is generally not a good experience?

? There are ~2500 apps built for the Vision Pro, ~1,000,000 iPad compatible apps.
Mb that fact is outdated! Thanks for your correction. It used to start out with that number when Vision Pro came out in February earlier this year.

Unfortunately, I haven't had interest in using mine in over two months. May fire it up and load visionOS 2.2 on it, but otherwise I'm more interested in using my Mac or my iPad.

This is the main reason when people do not like the Vision Pro, they return it.
