I had exploded a pixel on 2012 (1st gen) retina.

My warranty ran out last december (I bought it on 19th December 2012), as I didn't have any extended warranties and AppleCare is dodgy where I live (I'd need to use it from germany or whatever). Under european "consumer protection law" regardless of warranty manufacturer is responsible for any manufacturing flaws that happen with no user fault. It got covered and I got a brand new screen, and just in time, 9 days later and I wouldn't.

So I'm typing on my retina with a brand new screen / lid!

Very happy and satisfied with apple, loving my retina

Oh and for the curious, I had a Samsung screen with the exploded one, and the new one is LG 2nd revision (actually Early 2013 screen!)
