I had my macbookpro 15" serviced and they changed it for the new one, and they saved my info by putting my old drive into the new one.

i have no sound, and i am guessing i just need to reinstall the OSx, i don't have the cd for this computer, i only have the cd for the old one and it wont allow me to install it on this one.

were can i find the reinstallation cd for my macbook 15" the one that just came out? instead of having to drive for 2 hours?

Take your disks (from the previous machine) to an Apple Store, explain what happened, and they might just give you restore disks for the unibody.

Otherwise, go to an Apple Store and buy replacement restore disks.

Call Apple Care, as the Installation DVDs are not downloadable, they might help you and send you new DVDs.

Or when all is worse, go to the Apple Store again, but most of the time, the call will suffice.

i was trying to avoid the 2 hour drive back to an apple store, but i might have to do it.. if nothing else works.

Is the graphics card still there?

I mean the 9600m GT, which had 512MB RAM , and was included in all the middle models, which is now exclusive to the higher end models.

Hmmm, this is interesting. I just moved my 500GB drive from my 09 White MB to this refurb uni 2.53 and it booted up fine with everything working. Even my Vista bootcamp partition worked (after a couple of reboots and Vista Re-Activation).

Seems like yours should just work. Also, my MBP restore disks work fine on my MB. Seems odd yours do not even in the same family.

Best of luck,
