I went from a Crucial SSD, to a Vertex 2, to an Intel 320, and I am not happy at all. I get lags on certain programs, and I have gotten more beachballs with the Intel SSD. Even opening up a picture sometimes with Preview makes the app icon bounce for a few seconds in the dock, before finally opening. The Crucial drive was the best one I had of the three. The Vertex 2 constantly ran my optical fan up ridiculously in my iMac, and it is doing the same since I installed it in my MBP. To clarify, I didnt replace my optical drive on my MBP, just replaced the original HD with the SSD. I didnt do the firmware update to the Intel drive, so I was wondering if that had something to do with the lag. I was looking at getting the 510 SSD, but I was nervous going with another SSD. My options are limited because I order them from a company at work, so my choices are Intel 320 or the new SATA 3 SSD, OCZ Vertex 2 and 3, Crucial Force SATA 2 and 3, and Kingston SATA 2 and 3. Anyone have any opinions? Should I wipe out the 320 drive, do the firmware update, and try again?
