seriously, i ripped the plastic into the case because i forgot to unlatch them. how come they all cant be the unhinged case type?

I hate the dvd cases with hinges

Unfortunately, some Blu-ray cases are also incorporating a different kind of hinge system. I hate the ones that have the hinge and several of them are already broken so that the hinge doesn't close all the way.

Yeah I find them annoying, too, though I've not broken a DVD case because of them yet.

Why would you apply the amount of strength that would break it, before realizing that something's wrong and remembering that there are hinges?

I have found that they are getting rid of the hinges on the new blu ray cases.
You can rip off the 2 little hinges that come on the DVDs. This is what I did when they first started making them like that.
I can't say anything about the Blu-Ray hinges because I haven't bought any with them on there yet.
