because I cant take my sim out and put it in a cheap backup phone if I don't want to use the iphone for a day. If I'm going to a theme park or concert and don't want to risk losing or damaging my iphone I used to just bust out the nokia razr, pop in the sim, and be one my way. No more :(

best way is to get a micro sim adapter, and just store that somewhere for occasions like these.

You can easily make a microsim->sim adapter from an old sim card, just line up the microsim along the connector pads and cut it out with a razor blade. Some scotch tape on the back helps. Tested and works great.

I think so. It's a black plastic thing that accepts a microSIM and turns it into a normal sized SIM, I assume that's what we're talking about.

Thinking about it though, I have a feeling it may have come in the paper envelope attached to the box, not in the box itself.

I'm on Orange (UK)

I tried that a few times and it's much harder than it seems. I wound up just buying a micro sim adapter.

Ive used a duo sim, you can only use one at a time but ik I need my backup phone for kayaking or other iPhone endangering stuff, I just take a nokia 6300 and am on my way. I put the iPhone in airplane mode so I do t need to turn it off either.

For those who may not know, it's a good practice to turn your phone off for 15 seconds once a week. That accomplishes two things. It takes you off line which will give you a better connection when reconnecting. And two, it insures your phone receives the latest cell system update that is pushed out by the network. So make it a habit & you'll be glad you did.

Anyone else think 8 bucks for that tiny piece of plastic is kinda outrageous? Specially since you probably also need to pay shipping.

FFS, GTFO serioulsy.. stop whining.. it's a forum!! people are suppose to ask questions and share experiences.

I happen to agree with him. Why can't I play my VHS tapes in my bluray player?? I mean, technology has always remained backward compatible forever right? This is an outrage!

I've heard Orange were handing them out with their phones. I certainly didn't get one with mine (bought directly from Apple). But then I don't have a backup phone so I'm not too upset :)
your not missing much it's just a bit of cheap black plastic I found it to be a bit flimsy when I tried it out
