I seem to be adding Hide My Email addresses in the 'wrong iCloud account'. I have two of them, and the 'secondary' account handles all my email, but the 'primary' seems to be logged into my devices and also comes up with a list of addresses that aren't working currently.

The question I fear the answer to: Does iCloud actually allow a user to create Hide My Email addresses in an iCloud account that doesn't have email enabled?

It sounds stupid and completely totally brain dead, so I fear that the answer is 'But of course, why wouldn't it'... And if that's true, this is the stupidest system, and most boneheaded hot mess of 'does anyone thing this stuff through' that I've ever heard of.

So if it IS true, I have to delete the apparent unusable addresses, and create them over again in the email-active account.

And if it's true, what a damned boneheaded mess! I have 13 Hide My addresses! Yikes...

Well, actually it does have email enabled. I had to signup to host that single address, so the Hide My addresses *should* be working. I'm still waiting for a 'confirmation' from the last site I set one up for. Looking at an hour so far. If they are that slow, maybe I don't want to do anything with them, but I don't want to use a real address. I'm getting over 80 spam/phishing emails a day currently and want to try to avoid adding to it.
