Howdy!

So I would like to buy an iPhone or iTouch mainly for the applications and wifi (Google maps would be quite helpful). I have a budget of $200. Here's some information/questions...

- I do have the AT&T unlimited data plan with my Sony Ericsson phone. Would that plan be the same for the iPhone (i.e. would it cost more to use the iPhone)?
- I'm completely open to buying used/refurbished.
- Has any normal user filled up an 8 GB with applications?
- Can the iPhone be used as a modem?
- Is it possible to get a 3G iPhone used for under $200?

Thanks much! I'm getting quite excited to make this purchase.

-The iPhone requires the data plan which is an additional 30 dollars a month.
-A 8GB device is about 7.08 after the firmware and software. I have 3.05GB of applications one being 1.44 (Navigon GPS)
- If eligible for an upgrade you can get a 3G for $99 dollars plus tax..

Hope that helps some

Whoa, $30 more? Hmm... I guess I'll go iPod Touch!

Thanks for your help!

No problem, and yeah the Touch is a better choice if you are not in need of a phone and had the extra money to spend on the phone. I had a touch then got the iPhone, but the iPod Touch was still awesome!

How much are you paying a month right now?

Also, if you have an unlimited data plan it shouldn't cost much more but I don't know. Although if it does cost a little, it may very well be worth it to you. I used to own an iPod Touch and loved it but I like the iphone even better. Really, it does save you a little if you plan on getting a new smartphone and portable media device in the future. The cost of the bill isn't cheap but if it isn't that much more than what you pay, get it.

Um, a banjo? Sounds lame. If I was going to go instrument, I'd splurge big time for a curved soprano sax.

I'm on a family plan (so my phone is like $10/month), but my DataConnect plan is $30/month.

Well if your data connect is 30 a month, thats how much it is for the iPhone, plus texting(if you dont have a family unlimited texting.) So really your not paying anything else... Right?

Roy Clark ('Hee Haw') plays the banjo and I'll be damned if anyone says a disparaging word about a national treasure like Roy Clark! The guy's managed to make it on 'Family Guy'. :D

If you're already paying for the data plan on your Sony Ericson, the iPhone won't be any more expensive. You can get the iPhone 3G for $99 or the iPhone 3GS 16 GB for $199. I'd go with the 3GS, because it is much faster, can record video, and has a few other features.

Against the iPod touch, you get twice the capacity, and a much faster device for the same price.

I'd go with the iPhone.

Agreed. If you have a data plan already, the price point isn't going to be that big of a difference. I would go with the iPhone. Apps that use the data connection are better when connected all the time. This also depends on the availability of WiFI hot spots. If there are alot around you, there there isn't much of a point. If you are in an area that is light on WiFi and would use the apps often, I say iPhone.

Buy the iPhone and add it to Family Plan for $9.99 month so you get a 3gs for $199. Move the data plan from your Sony to iPhone for $30 month. Now your final bill will only be a little more than what your paying now and you get a iPhone 3gs.

Take $100.00 and go to Vegas

Put $100.00 on RED 12

There you go $3,200.00

sorry $3,600.00
sorry, wrong Casino (and country) :D

NO!!!!!

go to the Bellagio Casino in Vegas

Put $80 on BLACK

Put $20 on 21

if u win

go to apple store in ceasers palace or the the fashion show mall

say to the concierge "I WON"

give me an iphone 3G! or an S

yeeeeeee:D

"sir u only have some $300 bucks"

"ohhh give me an ipod touch 64GB!" then////.... "epic fail"

Do an upgrade on your line from the family plan and order the iPhone.

The unlimited data plan you have now will have to be switched to an iPhone data plan (same stuff, different internal code for the visual mail). The cost for the iPhone data plan is $40.

The cost of the minutes remains the same.

iPHone in a heartbeat because you already have ATT and data and it won't be much more.

get the 3GS if u already got the 30 dollar data plan. 3g comes in handy compared to ipod touch...
