My friend lent me his USB mixer, and I'm trying to record my electric guitar by direct input.

All I've done is connected the mixer to the usb port, do I need to connect anything else? I have Logic Express, but I can't seem to pick up any recording signal apart from via the internal mic. Is it possible to actually record on a macbook or would I need a soundcard or something?

Thanks in advance

In theory, a USB mixer is all you should need. What model of mixer do you have? Is it recognized by OS X at all? (I.e., in the system settings, does the device show up as a possible choice for audio input and output devices? Does the system profiler app show it as a recognized USB device?
