iPhone 6(S)/Plus I have an iPhone 6s, looking for cheap plan

I inherited an iPhone 6 from my best friend's wife (my friend sadly passed away). She thought he would want me to have it.
I had the service for free for a few months until his service ran out, now I'm trying to figure out what to do.
I only use the phone for it's GPS. I'm temping and it really helps direct me to the next job.
I want to pay as little as possible and without a contract. I could stay with Verizon and I think their cheapest pre-paid plan is $30/month.
Any suggestions? I live in San Diego. Thanks

Cricket wireless or metropcs. $30-40 dollars and no surcharge or tax.

I was hoping for less than $30 otherwise it may pay to just stick with Verizon since it would be easy

Check out Red Pocket’s eBay deals. It is great for low usage. I got my parents the 500 min/500 text and 500mb per month plan for $85 for the year when Ebay had a sale. Regularly $99 which is still a great deal. You can choose GSMA (att), GSMT (T-Mobile) CDMA (Verizon).
