I have currently got an o2 2g iPhone on contract. Now my other half is due an upgrade with o2, can I upgrade to the 3g iPhone and when the phones I arrive can I switch the sim cards so my old contract is with the new phone and the new sim will be with the old phone?

Any advice will be much appreciated, thanks.

I could be wrong but as far as I'm aware there shouldn't be any problem switching a sim between 2G and 3G iPhones.

If the 3G phone that you buy isn't simlocked to another provider.

Same provider, do you know how I should do it, should I get the new phone activate it all then switch it, or switch before I activate, and is there anyway to carry over all my sms's and contacts?

I think this is how it works:

Get the new phone, put the old SIM in, see if it works
--if not plug into iTunes and activate

Get the old phone, put the new SIM in, see if it works
--if not plug into iTunes and activate

I remember putting my Simplicity SIM into my 2G and it worked fine, but that was after I unlocked so it was a bit different.
