One has an issue with the power button (cable possibly loose), and the other is missing a hard drive.

I heard it's difficult to fix a PowerBook 12"? I've assembled a 12" iBook almost from scratch, and had replaced a hard drive in a Pismo, as well as replaced the LCD in a MacBook.

Should I tackle this?

powerpc processors? those things are paperweights. those processors are so slow and all new software takes intel processors.

You should probably get paid to take them of their hands if anything.

If you can get them both for less than $50, take them. If nothing else, you could take them apart/destroy them for fun.

If you feel the work you have to put into fixing them will justify the price you can sell them for… go for it.

How much you getting them for?

Go for it if it's cheap. You might be able to re-sell with a nice profit.

$600 might be unusual, but $200 for a broken powerbook? that definitely happens. Check out the completed listings on ebay for an idea of their specific value there.

Yeah, I'd get 'em and see if they could be fixed. At the very least, you may be able to cobble together one working PB to play around with. The 12 inch form factor is very appealling and the PB should run Leopard, if I'm not mistaken.
