Hey all,

I've been with AT&T since the iPhone 3G and have decided that I would like to try switching over to Verizon. I have two lines on my current AT&T plan and have 6 GB of data with them.

I'd also like to pre-order the iPhone X come this Friday. From what I can find, one must be an existing Verizon customer to pre-order a device from that carrier. (At least, through Apple)

Is it possible to open a Verizon account without activating any lines, prior to pre-ordering? I seem to call that Apple will text you a code during pre-order, leading me to believe you must have a phone activated on said line.

If I have access to a family members Verizon account, is it possible to use their credentials to order a device, but not activate it on their account through Apple's site?

Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
