Looking at the new design of the tablet version of Google News made me realize that as much as I hate skeuomrphism I would hate for Apple to go all metro/modern on us. I'm not a fan of the font, big text and all the white space.
And with Windows 8 there's lots of low information density where you get very little information on a page. Take their bing finance app. One headline and 3 stock quotes. Yes it's uncluttered, but almost too much so, to the point where it provides very little use.
I'd like to see iOS lose the kitsch but not be stripped of all personality. Lose the green felt and stitched leather but not something as flat as Windows or cold and impersonal as Android.
