Nope, one tends to be arrested by the British transport police, and it also creates holdups on the train service for other commuters, I did however consider it for a few seconds 
They station staff managed to retrieve it for me albeit it was very dirty and scuffed, hardly surprising considering the quantity of trains that passed by before they could attempt the retrieval
Pleased to have it back, it was fully dead too, and needed a big ole charge
