I just bought ASD and I can’t get it to work

So here’s the deal. The supplied thunderbolt cable is too short to reach my MacPro 7,1. No problem. I have other cables. They don’t work with it. Good cables otherwise. Never had a problem with them. I plugged in the short supplied cable and it works for my MacBookPro.

Is there a trick? I mean other than going to the Apple Store that opens in 4 hours?

My only guess is that the other cables you have don't provide enough bandwidth needed.
