I just don't get it, what is the point of..

...having the 'icon wiggle' in the launchpad in os lion? you can just drag and drop them even without having to click and hold until the icons wiggle. Did they do it just so that it looks like iOS? or is there any actual functionality?

Wiggle and you see a X on top of App store purchased apps icons, with clicking on that, you can uninstall those apps. That's why they build in this wiggle thing.
