My sister wants to get an iPod Touch, but could she just use mine as an iPod Touch? If so, how do I do it? Do I just restore it, and leave the SIM card out?

Thanks!

After 2.2.1, you can use airplane mode and wi-fi, so just put the thing in airplane mode and turn on wi-fi all the time, and you are set.

Note, your old SIM won't work anyway if you got an iPhone 3GS, but emergency calls and whatnot will.

well basically what im wondering is if there is a negative effect of leaving the sim in compared to taking it out? charges...etc.?

if the simcard is deactivated then it won't make a difference, but it might be worth taking it out anyway, no particular reason, but i would just incase... you never know, big brother might still be tracking everyone with deactivated simcards... who knows! :) x
