I just bought another iPhone 3g for personal use this time around the at&t guy at the store told me to drain the battery completly the first night then recharge it fully the next. Is this accurate? How does this help the iPhone or is this just a myth?

I don't think it will hurt you either way. Some people say to drain the battery, others don't. I just plugged my iPhone into my computer straight out of the box and let it charge the remainder of the way and it seems to have no issues. I think that myth is left over from the days when rechargeable batteries weren't as reliable or high tech as they are today. Hope this helps! :)

Mine came fully charged, just started using it straight away. Didn't drain it, and so far I've had no issues with the battery and whatnot. I too think it's a dieing myth as technology gets better.
