Universal I just released a game using Apple Intelligence and Image Playground! Introducing Holodeck!

Hi everyone,

I just released a new app called Holodeck using Apple Intelligence and Image Playground. I wanted to teach myself the new APIs in iOS 26 but it ended up being fun so I turned it into a simple multiplayer "game". Basically what you do is take turns with a friend prompting the AI to write a story. It uses GameCenter to facilitate turn based play and after each paragraph Apple Intelligence attempts to illustrate your story as well. I've found it to be fun and hilarious, and while Apple's AI models aren't perfect, sometimes it's more entertaining when they draw something bizarre or write a strange twist you never anticipated.

I thought some of you on MacRumors might be interested because I think it's a great way to explore what Apple Intelligence can do. I missed being included in the posts about new apps using Apple Intelligence so I'm trying to get the word out and share what I made with the community.

Right now it's totally free but I think someday I'll monetize it, so feel free to try it for free and let me know what you think!

Interesting, best of luck! Is Apple Intelligence intelligent enough to act as a chatbot if we were to create a text/chat story?

It's sort of GPT-3 level to be honest. It can work as a chat bot but it's a lot worse at most tasks than GPT4o or GPT5 but it's fine for generating stories and comes up with whacky and interesting ideas all the time.

One thing I find annoying though is it's not great at following instructions so as a programmer who's still a bit new to using LLMs in apps, its a bit annoying because you tell the LLM "respond with exactly one paragraph of text" and sometimes it just decides to churn out a whole novel. Or it will just parrot back some old story paragraphs when you tell it to generate new story content etc.
