Ok, Apple, look! Your new PowerMac line is pretty cool, but $5,000 for a high-end machine! C'mon! That is so ridiculous! I would never pay $5,000 for a machine like that! I even looked at the lower end machines, but what you get for $1,699 is pure crap! I tried tweaking the Dual 867MHz a little to make it a bit better and it still turned out to be over $4,000. I'm telling ya, people are just not gonna pay that kinda money for these machines.
Apple, I praise you for acknowledging the Mac vs. PC war with your "switch" campaign. But if your going to win this marketing battle with PC's then you are gonna have to also acknowledge the price war between PC's and Macs. I mean look, most high-end PC's sell for no more than $3,000, midrange PC's usually sell between $1,000-$2,000 and low-end PC's usually sell for under $1,000!!!
It's no wonder your market share is shrinking. You've got to jump in there and take a risk, Apple, just like PC users feel that it is a risk to "switch (at least at first)." I understand that you may lose money, but perhaps you can find ways to invest smarter and lower your production costs. I guarantee you Apple that once your market share starts to rise, the profits will far outweigh the production costs and you will be a rich company--just like Microsoft.Otherwise, your market share will continue to decrease, and lots of customers out there would NOT want to see that happen. I for one would be very upset.
