I just sold my 3gs to someone to buy the iPhone 4...I erased all of my data and took out my sim card...however when he got to my apartment, he wanted to verify it could make a call. I put in my sim and connected to itunes (just letting it register and not setting it up as either a new phone or restoring from a backup). He made a call and I took out the sim and sold it to him. However I'm a little worried that the phone is now still activated on my account...is it...or does it need my sim for that? Is there anything I need to do to make sure the new owner doesn't incur charges on my account?

Thanks!
Mark.

As long as u signed put of iTunes account and erased everything and have ur sim u should be fine.

once your sim is out of the phone, they have no access to your account - your number/account is tied to the sim not the phone.

Sold it for $400 - it was a near mint condition 3gs 32gb (I only got it about 1.5 months ago so I still had the original box etc.) -- Yay for being able to upgrade to iPhone 4 for only $100 or so :)

wow, you sold it pretty cheap

i've seen a couple month old 32gb 3gs go for over 600 in the past few days

I only got $400 for mine with AppleCare until July 31 2011 and a dock. CAn you link me to anyone actually buying these phones for $600?

Yeah, I'd concur... I just sold mine.. was a never used refurbished in original box and didn't come near $600, nor have I seen anything on CL/ebay near that in the last past few days I was looking.

Who the hell would buy a used 3GS for over $600? MAYBE if it were unlocked or something.. but even then.. I'd say that's a horrible buy.

I tried to sell my 32GB on eBay and it had no bids after 2 1/2 days. I ended the auction early because within 12 hours, you cannot end the auction. Its on Craigslist now.

My 3Gs is only 3 days old (refurb from the Apple Store) and so far the only intrest on CL was a scammer from Nigeria!

What do you guys think the diff. in price (used on Ebay) is between the 16g vs 32g? Im sure the ones selling for big $$ are the 32Gs.

If you can get your money back (selling used), then buying the 32G may be in my future. If not, Im goin cheap (16).

If all you can get off eBay is around $300, consider Gazelle.com or Radio Shack both places were willing to give me $304 for my 32GB iPhone 3Gs.

Although both are fair offers, I am not eligible for upgrade, so I would have to pay $399/$499 (16GB/32GB). I like the new iPhone but, its not worth the extra $100-$200+ to me.

My upgrade is next June (2011), so if I can't sell it on Craigslist, I'll have to wait for next years version :(.

I guess it depends on where you are if there is local interest...since I live in NYC there are tons of people willing to buy and sell overseas for even more than they bought it from me.

The reason I could only get $400 was because I was on firmware 3.1.3 and it can't (as of yet) be unlocked - only jailbroken...if I was on 3.1.2 I'm sure I could have sold it for $600 or so.
