I have both Microsoft Office 2004 and iWork '09 installed on my MacBook. I've stopped using Word and started using Pages, but my Mac seems determined to make things as difficult as possible.

Whenever I try to open a .doc file, one of two things happens:
1) It opens in TextEdit.
2) It opens in Word.

I've tried right-clicking the .doc file, selecting "Open With...", choosing "Pages," and checking the "Always Open With" checkbox, which opens the selected document just fine in Pages. However, this does nothing for other .doc files, which continue to open in either TextEdit or Word.

How do I set things up so that all .doc files open in Pages and nothing else?

1. Right click file
2. Get info
3. Change the "Open with" field
4. Hit the "Change all..." button
5. Voila!

Highlight a .doc file, and right click, select "Get Info"
Under Open with, change to Pages, then press Change All.

Thanks so much I just figured this wasn't a problem and moved on until I thought of this.

Another question, very close to the answered one

As the question is answered, I take over and ask about a related thing, if you excuse me:

How to get rid of cursed right click on file, "open with" dialog options like: "123.xyz (MAC) - Bootcamp Partition"

You should really open a new thread rather than hijack this one.
