I have a budget of $300.

I only have 1.4 GB's of music, but 17 GB's of video.. I really do not need to have all my video with me at once, as i usually only watch a tv episode or a video podcast or two.

I also love the app store. I would love to be able to play super monkey ball and cube runner.

finally i would have all the same features as my old 8GB iPhone, so I wouldnt be loosing much.

This is where it gets tricky... I just want some reassurance the 8GB ipod touch would be better than the 80GB classic. the price point for 80GB compare to 8GB, (i know it is flash vs. hd but..) makes me rethink my purchase a bit.

iPod classic has no future... iPod touch can be changed soo much.. like THINK of the possibilities like the two are so DIFFERENT ... trust me I just got a iPod touch and its amazing.... well worth the money.:apple:

iPod Classic, hands down. Its more future proof.

LOL, future proof? It's not staying for the future..

1) Apple is NOT updating the software to anymore than stability patches. It's software is not made to be upgraded. Meanwhile, the iPod Touch has received several upgrades, with a couple significantly enhancing the functionality(January Software pack, 2.0).

2) No wifi built in, no multi touch, lower quality video, smaller screen. Not too future proof if you ask me.

3) HDD's are dieing. Flash is taking over.

You really MUST be joking if you think the iPod Classic is more future proof than the iPod Touch. Just taking a look around the App Store should tell you different.

Also, to the op: What I do for my video is that I set up something called "Telekenisis" on my Mac, which lets me, on my iPod Touch, browse the 40GB of video on my computer. If you have a PC, you can use Tversity, but either ways, the streaming solutions are excellent.

Future proof in terms of your media collection. The iPod Touch will reach capacity far more sooner than a low end iPod Classic. That's all I meant by future proof.

It depends on what the OP wants. Do you want Interent, Mail and everything at your fingers? Or do you want a small device which will hold all of your media, contacts and iCal?

Each device has an advantage and disadvantage...

dear god how long can one ipod sit in one city! :(

if it were me I would probebly
go with the classic but I suggest you wait
Because In the buyers guide it says that the classic will be
Updated soon so don't buy I'm guessing it will
Happen in September or earlyer
