I bought my latest MBP from amazon on July 18 and on July 20 they started a $150 rebate. I wrote them and asked if there was a way to get the rebate. they wrote back and told me that they can't issue a rebate, but that they had issued a refund of $150 instead!

Amazon has always come through for me in terms of rebates, shipping speed and cost, refunds, hassle-free returns and now this. I love them! Never been disappointed.

I have bought 2 iMacs (with rebates paid on time) from them and have been very happy, glad to hear they gave you a rebate also :)

Same here, and for the same reasons (well, minus the $150 rebate). :)

Amazon's direct services are flawless. It may be so because they've been around since Web 1.0, as so to say.

Yeah, Amazon and their support is awesome. Unlike Buy.com...you don't ever want to deal with those guys.

I love Amazon's free shipping. Sure it'll take a couple of days to ship, but you can't beat UPS 2day shipping to Hawaii. I'm waiting on a Lacie d2 320GB hard drive that should be delivered tomorrow. I had found it for cheaper on several other sites but their shipping costs made it more expensive than Amazon.

Amazon is amazing. I once complained about a another company that sells through them and they said they can't force that company to refund my shipping charges but instead they will give me a "gift certificate" in the amount the shipping was to apply towards my next shipping costs.

I thought that was pretty brilliant.

They're also amazing with returns, which is why I almost always buy my expensive computer/photography/electronic items from them. Anything wrong and there will be no hassle returning or exchanging it. Last time I got a SR MBP I decided to go the Soho apple store just because I didn't want to wait for online replacements from amazon if need be. Of course, the MBP I got had a flickering screen out of the box and I had to fight to get them to see it and acknowledge it. The Apple store is generally fine, but it's actually nicer to just write a short note to amazon "I'm returning it because the screen flickers. Please send a replacement' and know that there will no hassle whatsoever and no questioning of the problem.

It's also great that they continue to be so good over time.

Hrmm, where do you find the MBP at Amazon with the MIR? When I search for them, they don't have any discounts (although it also says it's shipped from and sold by CompUSA, not Amazon.com).

I have never paid tax on anything from Amazon before. I am trying to order a MacBook from them and they are trying to stick me with the tax. Whats the deal?

will amazon let you return a MBP if you buy it from them?

I've returned so many MBPs/macbooks to amazon that I'm surprised I'm not banned from buying from them forever! And never a question- any defect is accepted and they will either send you a replacement or full refund. The only thing I've noticed is that after one replacement they will not keep replacing, but will then tell you that there is a larger problem with the model and that they recommend waiting and purchasing again at a later date. They still refund you the full amount, but they won't send out another replacement so if you want to try again you need to order again and start over...

They must have built a distribution center in your state and are thus required to charge tax now. Not much you can do about that. I'm sure you could email them to clarify, but it's probably the case

i <3 Amazon.
its easy to find what you're looking for.
they have the hard to find items.
decent enough pricing.
and great customer service.

Are you sure it's actually Amazon selling the MacBook and not another vendor on Amazon's site?
